Dear Brewster Elementary School Family,
Inspiration, hope, joy, service, love... please take a minute and reflect on what these words bring to mind. For me, these words immerse me in the anticipation of our new school year. Whether you are looking forward to a year in kindergarten or shining bright in 5th grade, this year is full of promise, challenge, exploration, and the complete celebration of being YOU! Please know that each unique member of our school family will be safe, valued, and respected while learning and engaging at Brewster. With strong partnerships between home, school, and community Brewster provides a world-class education that is strengthened through love, dedication, service, and recognition of the joy each day offers. We create and strengthen our school community through collaboration, positive relationships, and keeping the academic growth, social development, and overall well-being of our children as our shared focus and priority. Together we inspire the future leaders of our world! What an amazing journey ahead...
Quickly, for those that I may not have met yet, let me share that this is my 22nd year with Rochester Community Schools. I can't believe how time has flown by! I am a graduate of Adams High School and have degrees from Bowling Green State University, Marygrove College, and Oakland University. My incredible husband, two children, and yorkie-poo are my heart and whole world. As residents of Rochester for almost 30 years, you might see us in the drive-thru at Starbucks, taking a walk together at one of local parks, or masking up and running in at the local groceries getting our beloved pandemic snacks. Most importantly, we just love being together! Even through the challenges of the last months, I can continue to find rest and comfort with the extra focus on family. I hope you will consider Brewster an extended member of your family.
Our school theme for the year will be Be Bright, Be Bold, Be Kind…Be YOU! We will model and practice our pillars of respect, responsibility, and kindness as a community. We will reach out to connect through service, reflect and grow through authentic learning, and celebrate the ups and downs along our journey. We invite our community to partner with us, learn with us, and celebrate with us. Reach out by phone, email, or using the Talk to Us button on the RCS webpage. Together we'll make it our best year yet!
With Brewster Pride,
Mrs. Kelly Dessy
